Common Sense

To my Independent voting neighbors in Vance, Franklin, Warren, and Granville Counties:

I understand your decision to register as an “Unaffiliated” voter. The decades-old, single-party Democrat domination of this region has been a frustration. But it is frequently hard to find Republican candidates on the local and state ballots.

Please take a moment to click on the "Background and Issues" tab to the left.  I believe you will find that the conservative principles that are the foundation of my candidacy are very similar to the core beliefs you hold for your family and community.

The special interests that drive legislation in Raleigh are the same that have been at the core of an embarrassing number of Democrat scandals over the years. It doesn’t have to be this way. Your decision to register Unaffiliated is evidence that you are not satisfied with the status quo that continues to fail to deliver on campaign promises.

I will make this commitment to you. Every vote I cast as your state senator will focus on the core beliefs and principles outlined on this website. We may not win every vote and every battle. But I know there is no room for compromise on these fundamental beliefs.

I believe that your trust is sacred. If I fail to live up to this commitment by casting a vote that is not in line with the strong conservative foundation outlined here, I would not expect you to vote for my re-election.

You may find that an unusual statement from a political candidate. But that is how firmly I am committed to the conservative principles I hold.
